Imagined Italy: Visual Imaginaries and Stereotypes in Digital Communication

With Carlo Arcidiacono and Marco Nicotra

Professional photographers and videographers Carlo Arcidiacono and Marco Nicotra will explore how photography and videography construct and convey social imaginaries, including media-amplified stereotypes. Focusing on how Italy is imagined through the tourism, wedding, and fashion industries, the lecture will analyze the interplay between these sectors and visual culture, highlighting the boundary between reality and perception and providing concrete tools to strategically use imaginaries in digital communication.
